Packrat, the Maximal thief has been watching. He finally snaps out of it and Blackarachnia tells him how important it is to the Predacons (and to her) that the Furmanite be prepared. In reality Blackarachnia is trying to snap Fractyl out of his stupor.

It turns out Fractyl was merely daydreaming. Using Furmanite, Fractyl hopes to create 'Energon Armor' which can lead the Predacons to victory over the Maximals! Suddenly, his experiment seems to go wrong and everything explodes! This is meant to protect the Predacons from the high energon fields on the primitve world of the Beast Wars. The tale begins with Megatron and Blackarachnia consulting Fractyl on his newest discovery, the new energy called Furmanite.
